What is the World Fitness Project?
The World Fitness Project (WFP) is an international functional fitness league. Its proposal combines high performance with community participation, bringing together over 500 competitors of all levels at each event: from established professional athletes to enthusiasts looking to experience a major competitive stage.
The project was created by Will Moorad —former athlete of the CrossFit Games and current Director of Sports— along with Isabella and Jackson Terry, promoters of GoodLyfe, a training center and community with international reach. With the experience accumulated after years on the circuit, they detected that many athletes depended on few annual competitions and lacked solid contractual support. Their response was to design a league that offered:
- Stability: contracts with guaranteed salaries for the best.
- Accessibility: open qualifiers for new talents.
- Professionalization: clear rules, defined calendar, and media projection.
The WFP is not affiliated with CrossFit Inc., which gives it the freedom to create its own tests, regulations, and competitive structure. This independence allows it to develop more varied events, adapted to a television and digital format, capable of attracting both athletes and spectators from all over the world.
Divisions
One of its main innovations is its tiered competition structure:

Pro Division: 20 men and 20 women with professional contracts, competing throughout the season for points and ranking positions.

Challenger Division: Open to everyone. During one week, the best 10 men and 10 women qualify to compete alongside the professionals on Tour.

Competitive Field: Includes competitions for teams, teen, and master categories.
How the competition works
The World Fitness Project season is designed to keep excitement and interest throughout the year, with a competitive journey divided into three main phases: Online Qualifiers, Tour Stops, and the World Fitness Finals that crown the season.
1. Online Qualifiers
Twice a year —in March and July— the qualifying tests are held, opening the door to in-person events. These eliminations last one week and consist of three tests that athletes must complete and submit online.
The top 10 men and women from each qualifier earn a direct spot in the Pro Division of the next Tour Stop. Those ranked between 11th and 30th access the Challenger Division. where they compete alongside other emerging athletes in search of their big opportunity.
2. Tour Stops
These are the in-person events that shape the regular season. Each Tour Stop lasts three days and brings together the elite and challengers to compete in six tests that challenge strength, endurance, technical skill, and strategic ability.
At each stop, key points are distributed for the global ranking, maintaining competitive tension and offering a spectacle both live and via streaming.
3. World Fitness Trials
In October, shortly before the Finals, the last chance to enter the big event arrives: the World Fitness Trials.
This online phase lasts three weeks and presents six tests (two per week). It is open to any athlete in the world, allowing new names to break onto the international stage. Those who achieve exceptional performance in this phase can qualify directly for the World Fitness Finals in December.
4. World Fitness Finals
The grand finale of the year is held in December and lasts four days, with a total of nine tests. It is the stage where double points are awarded and where the absolute champion of the season is determined. To get here, not only talent is needed: consistency throughout the year and the ability to maintain a high level in different formats and venues are essential.

Each Tour Stop is a three-day event with six tests, while the Finals extend to four days with nine tests.
Scoring System:
The World Fitness Project uses a scoring system designed to reward consistency and constant performance throughout the season. It's not enough to shine in a single event: to be crowned, athletes must maintain a high level in all phases of the competition.
Each event consists of several tests (6 in a Tour Stop and 9 in the Finals), and each test awards up to 100 points. The sum of these results determines the athlete's final position in that event.
The points obtained in each event are accumulated throughout the season, creating a ranking that defines who reaches the World Fitness Finals in December. The Challengers with the best performance can earn a spot in the Finals and even aspire to a professional contract for the 2026 season.
In the World Fitness Finals, the pressure increases: scores are doubled. This means that a good performance can completely change the overall ranking, keeping the excitement and possibilities open until the last moment.
